Learn the rules for obtaining your driver's license in Ohio. Our instructors are dedicated to providing personalized attention and guidance, ensuring you receive the support you need to succeed.

Phase 1: The Head Start (Age 15 Years, 5 Months)

• Enroll in a 24-Hour Classroom Program: You can legally register for an in-person or state-approved online driver's education course with Dynamic Driving Academy. You do not need a permit for this step.

Phase 2: Getting Your Permit (Age 15 Years, 6 Months)

• Study for the Permit Test: Review the Ohio Digest of Motor Vehicle Laws.
• Visit an Ohio BMV Exam Station: Go to a testing center (like the nearby Sharonville or a branch near you) to pass your 40-question written knowledge test and vision screening.
• Purchase Your TIPIC: Head to a Deputy Registrar office with your co-signing parent/guardian, their photo ID, and your identity documents (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, and 2 proofs of residency) to pay the fee and print your physical Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC).

Phase 3: Behind-the-Wheel Training & Family Practice

• Complete Your 24 Classroom Hours: Finish all modules and pass Dynamic Driving Academy's final written exam to receive your classroom certificate.
• Schedule 8 Hours of Professional Driving: Contact Dynamic Driving Academy to book your 8 mandatory hours of behind-the-wheel instruction in their training vehicles. You must carry your physical permit card for every lesson.
• Log 50 Guardian Practice Hours: Practice driving with a parent, guardian, or licensed adult instructor for at least 50 hours total, with at least 10 of those hours completed at night.
• Receive your Course Completion Certificate: Dynamic Driving Academy will issue your official state certificate once your 24 hours of class and 8 hours of driving are fully completed and paid for.

Phase 4: Getting Your License (Minimum Age: 16)

• Complete the 6-Month Holding Period: If you are under 18, you must hold your temporary permit for at least 6 consecutive months before you can take the skills test. (Note: If you are 18 to 20 years old, you must complete the steps above but can skip this 6-month waiting period).
• Schedule Your Road Exam: Book your final driving and maneuverability test online via the Ohio BMV scheduling portal.
• Pass the Driving Exam & Collect Your License: Bring your vehicle, a licensed driver, your physical TIPIC, your signed 50-hour practice affidavit, and your Dynamic Driving Academy completion certificate to the exam station. Pass the test to receive your official Ohio driver's license!
